Rastriya Jeewan Beema Company Limited was established as a private company on Poush 1, 2024, with the decision of the Government of Nepal to mobilize internal resources and capital for the country’s economic development, prevent the outflow of foreign currency, and establish a professionally skilled insurance company. It transitioned into an institution under the Rastriya Beema Sansthan Act 2025 on Poush 1, 2025. The institution has successfully operated in alignment with the goals and objectives set by the Government of Nepal, delivering high returns over its tenure. It commenced non-life insurance operations on Falgun 11, 2024 B.S., and life insurance operations on Falgun 7, 2029 B.S. However, later life and non-life business were seperated. For a while, life business was operated under Rastriya Beema Sansthan, which eventually converted to Rastriya Jeewan Beema Co. Ltd.
Rastriya Beema Sansthan was converted into a public company following the cancellation of the Rastriya Beema Sansthan Act 2025 and the implementation of the Insurance Act 2079. As per the new Insurance Act, the Corporation was required to convert into a public company within one year of the establishment of the Insurance Authority. Following this conversion, all employees, current as well as fixed assets, and liabilities of the corporation belonged to the company. Additionally, all insurance policies were treated as issued by the converted company.
